This webinar will be recorded, and will discuss the following:

• Basic system design features and functionality: this would discuss the two major components-leaching bed and septic tank-and their functions and features . It would also discuss how wastewater flows through the system – how solids are separated out in the tank and how the effluent flows into the leaching bed, infiltrates into the receiving soils and is then treated.
• Basic maintenance and operation best practices: pumping, cleaning effluent filters, maintenance contracts for advanced treatment units, what not to put down drains, etc.
• Considerations for new installs and existing systems: set backs, sizing and design requirements as per the Ontario Building Code, hiring licensed professionals, etc.
• Regulatory considerations: who is responsible for what, provincial ministries, local permitting regulators, etc.
